Brother(hood) Dance! brings an excerpt/duet iteration of their work Black On Earth to The Sable Project's Food & Art Friday. Black on Earth is an innovative and thought-provoking Interdisciplinary project that seamlessly integrates dance, agriculture, and technology to explore the stories of and experiences of Black farmers. 

Brother(hood) Dance! is an interdisciplinary duo that seeks to inform its audiences on the socio-political and environmental injustices from a global perspective, bringing clarity to the same-gender-loving African-American experience in the 21st century. Brother(hood) Dance! was formed in April 2014 as a duo that researches, creates, and performs dances of freedom by Orlando Zane Hunter, Jr. and Ricarrdo Valentine. They are a 2020 Bessies Honoree of the NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies for Afro/Solo/Man. 

The Sable Project's Food & Art Fridays also feature wood-fired pizza from Fat Dragon Farm, and Opening works-in-progress Presentations by Sable's Resident Artists. The event will begin at 5:30 PM with those offerings. Black On Earth will begin around 7 PM. All events are hosted outdoors on the beautiful Sable Land, rain or shine!

BIO:

Sable Arts Projects, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering environmental stewardship, healthy food, and a forum for the practice, development, creation, and sharing of arts in rural Vermont and beyond.

The Sable Project Residency Program brings artists of different mediums together to live and work on the land, off the grid, to produce food and art. We build from a foundation of collaboration, physical work, and environmental awareness to push participating artists and idea-makers out of habits and towards their greater potential. We explore ways of living simply, productively and creatively on a daily basis.  We aim to inspire by creating inquisitive art and educational experiences for both resident artists and visitors.

During the summer months, we host bi-weekly Food & Art Fridays in which we invite the community to the Sable Land to enjoy made-to-order wood-fired pizza (made in a cob oven!), and witness artistic works-in-progress from our Resident Artists. Each event also features an incredible headlining artist from our Performing Arts series! These events are fun, family friendly, & filled with inspiring art. We hope you'll join us!
