A movement for dance.

VDA is an arts service organization for Vermont's dance sector, coalescing, supporting, and advocating for dance artists across the state. Vermont's natural landscape and inclusive policies draw many artists to the state, but its public funding for the arts falls short of the need. As a result, too many talented artists are eking out a living on the margins, or decide to leave the state for more opportunity elsewhere. VDA is working to build public understanding of and respect for the role dance plays in enriching our communities and bolstering our creative and tourist economy. It is actively creating new career pathways for dance artists to enable them to stay in Vermont, and combating rural isolation by connecting artists to resources and each other. 

VDA is a membership organization, and our member benefits include promoting classes, performances and events through VDA; applying for our choreography residency; getting discounts at local studios; and utilizing VDA as a fiscal sponsor for grant funding.

Creating change will require our community to unify around the shared desire to elevate dance in Vermont. Join the movement!
